Dear Friends and Supporters,

It is with great regret that we inform you of the decision to postpone Mutt Strut - 2015.

Undoubtedly, the concept of Mutt Strut - a fun, family-oriented festival to promote responsible pet care - is a great fundraising vehicle. At the beginning of the planning, we felt we understood the unique challenges in re-vitalizing the event.

Even though the sponsor financial support was close to projections, the vendor sign-up was severely lacking. Unfortunately, without a vibrant festival-shopper/seller atmosphere, it was difficult imagine how we could keep our participants and visitors entertained and engaged, even for a half day.

We thank those that have brought an enthusiastic energy and positive spirit to our 2015 effort and look forward to exploring the possibilities in 2016.

Have you ever wondered what happens to the furry best friend of a lonely senior adult that has to spend extended time away for medical care, or the household pets of a woman and her children seeking refuge from an abusive spouse? The Humane Society of Montgomery County improves the lives of these animals through The Ruff House, a safe haven for dogs and cats until they can reunite with their owners.

The goal of The Ruff House is to keep families intact by providing care for dogs and cats in a residential-type setting at no cost or low cost for people in the community with limited resources.

The Ruff house relies on community support to fulfill its vision! Mutt Strut is a fundraising event that has drawn hundreds of participants and spectators in past years and consists of many fun family activities. The proceeds from Mutt Strut support this unique and special pet care center in assisting families in crisis. Please consider joining us at this year's event as a vendor, sponsor or participant!
